- Deliver longer-term outcomes autonomously
- Serve as a company-level expert in a product/business area
- Implement solutions that minimize disruptions caused by business-environment changes
- Create, test, refine, and implement work pieces improving overall system functionality
- Address accumulated technical debt and engineering-excellence gaps
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies or technology solutions
- Hold the team accountable to aligned priorities and escape when necessary
- Guide colleagues through consultation and mentoring in techniques and processes
- Provide functional supervision
- Integrate FINRA’s values of intelligence, integrity, and initiative into team goals and decisions
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional partners
- Establish a network of colleagues supporting technology or business opportunities
- Collaborate in person and virtually in furtherance of FINRA’s investor-protection and market-integrity mission
- Report directly to a Director or Senior Director
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least ten (10) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience
- Master’s degree with eight (8) years of related experience
- Mastery level system design experience
- Mastery level experience in object-oriented development
- Mastery level experience with cloud technologies
- Strong experience in data storage technologies
- Strong background in performance tuning and optimization
- Strong background in Dev Ops and CI/CD technologies
- Strong background in test automation and unit testing
- Strong background in software security
- Extensive knowledge of multiple/related functional areas and industry practices
- Occasional travel and extended hours may be required
- Compliance with FINRA investment, securities account, confidentiality, invention assignment, and nepotism policies
Demonstrates mastery in system design, object-oriented development, and cloud technologies, while effectively communicating with stakeholders and guiding teams towards achieving aligned priorities. Possesses strong expertise in data storage, performance tuning, Dev Ops, test automation, and software security.
