Role Overview

The Mobile Lifting Equipment Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough inspections and testing of various lifting equipment, including heavy plant and lifting machinery & lifting equipment, to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. The inspector will identify and document equipment defects, malfunctions, and safety concerns, and provide recommendations for repairs, replacements, or maintenance activities based on inspection findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections and testing of lifting equipment on-site or in workshops to industry specifications.
  • Identify and document equipment defects, malfunctions, and safety concerns.
  • Provide recommendations for repairs, replacements, or maintenance activities based on inspection findings.
  • Complete necessary paperwork in line with set procedures and industry specifications.
  • Assist with repairs and servicing of lifting equipment where required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines and regulations.

Experience / skills required
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Passion for machinery and the technical aspects of construction.
  • Previous experience in inspecting and testing lifting equipment.
  • Experience in completing necessary paperwork and documentation.
  • Experience in assisting with repairs and servicing of lifting equipment.
Qualifications
  • Industry-standard qualification from the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of lifting equipment and ability to spot problems and provide solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements.
  • Good attention to detail and high level of organization.
  • Ability to pick up technical systems quickly.
  • In-depth understanding of general engineering.
Working Conditions
  • The role may require working on construction sites or in workshops.
  • The role may involve travel to different locations for inspections.
  • The role may require physical activity, including lifting and handling equipment.
  • This role is 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

  • A Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card may be required to work on construction sites.
  • Work experience in the construction industry is essential for gaining employment in this role.
