The Opportunity:

Generator Service Engineer

We are actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Service Engineer to join our team at Wernick Power Solutions, based in Dundee. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the optimal operational functionality and immaculate presentation of our extensive range of equipment, including generators, diesel tanks, distribution systems, cabling, and associated ancillaries.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be instrumental in conducting routine inspections, thorough testing, and preventative servicing. You will expertly attend to breakdowns and perform timely repairs, alongside executing precise installation and commissioning tasks. Your work will directly uphold our rigorous standards of customer service, safety, and quality.

This role includes participation in an on‑call rota, for which you will receive additional pay and compensation for any call‑outs undertaken, ensuring our customers always have reliable power when they need it most.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to and promote SHEQ group standards.
  • Achieve optimum, yet safe productivity levels with designated workload.
  • Ensure all transactional elements of the role are managed effectively, such as breakdowns, services, PDI’s, determining damage, and times sheets.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Provide Safety Observations for any unsafe practice in the depot or on a customer site.
  • Ensure overdue servicing is kept below 6% of total fleet in your designated area.
  • Have all training and competencies updated via the PDP skills matrix.
  • Provide support outside normal job role as and when required for the Depot and Service Manager.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is kept in good condition and stocked with appropriate tools, oils, consumables, safety equipment.
  • Seek time to self‑develop (relevant to role) via training platforms, online learning hubs and structured training sessions.
  • Provide support for colleagues as and when required and/or when you deem necessary.
  • Ensure depot and engineering standards.
Essential Criteria
  • Skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines relevant to the scope of equipment involved in the role.
  • Adequate skills for performing competent maintenance routines, whether in field service or depot‑based roles.
  • In‑depth skills for competent fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair, and testing of the defined equipment type, for repair roles.
  • Experience in working with generator engines is essential; applications without this experience will not be considered.
Desirable Criteria
  • Hold a C and G, NVQ, or other recognized professional or vocational qualifications in the relevant technical discipline.
  • In‑depth experience in multiple technical disciplines, such as mechanical and electrical.
  • Hands‑on experience in service, maintenance, installation, and repair of diesel‑driven generators.
