Store Manager Position Summary

We are seeking a friendly, energetic, and hands-on Store Manager to oversee the daily operations of the entire store. This leader will ensure that the company’s vision, values and service standards are consistently upheld while creating a positive experience for both customers and team members.

The Store Manager reports to the General Manager and plays an essential role in maintaining efficient operations, developing employees, managing inventory and supporting the store’s sales and profitability goals.

Leadership and Team Development

The Store Manager will:

  • Communicate regularly with the General Manager regarding store performance, operational concerns, customer feedback and opportunities for improvement.
  • Interview candidates recommended by Human Resources.
  • Coordinate the onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Train supervisors and ensure ongoing development of the store team.
  • Maintain clear communication between management and employees.
  • Monitor employee performance, complete reviews and assist with disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Create employee schedules and review timecards for exceptions, vacation requests and PTO.
  • Lead by example and maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Build teamwork, motivate employees and promote accountability.
Store Operations and Customer Experience

The Store Manager shares responsibility for the smooth operation of the store and for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include:

  • Addressing customer and employee concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintaining appropriate documentation of incidents as required by Human Resources.
  • Implementing and communicating changes to store policies and procedures.
  • Enforcing company policies regarding uniforms, breaks, telephone use and workplace conduct.
  • Coordinating the opening and closing of all store departments.
  • Developing a working knowledge of each position within the store.
  • Ensuring the safety of customers and employees.
  • Reporting security-related concerns to the General Manager.
  • Monitoring the quality of all store products.
Department and Inventory Management

The store manager directs and supports the dry goods, dairy, frozen foods, wellness, produce, meat and seafood, bulk, food service, specialty, and beer and wine departments.

This position is responsible for:

  • Helping each department achieve established sales and profitability goals.
  • Overseeing storewide ordering and maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Managing the store’s inventory processes.
  • Overseeing product selection for the custom flyer.
  • Reviewing invoices for proper coding, discounts, accuracy, and timely payment.
  • Verifying deliveries against invoices and documenting shortages or overages.
  • Communicating delivery discrepancies to the appropriate supplier.
  • Overseeing product returns and credits.
  • Negotiating favorable buy-ins, volume discounts, and ongoing promotional opportunities with manufacturers, brokers, and distributors.
  • Counting petty cash to verify the accuracy of the safe.
  • Completing daily deposits accurately and efficiently.
Food Service and Sanitation

The store manager assists with training food service employees, establishes high-performance standards, and clearly communicates departmental expectations. This position ensures that proper food storage, ordering, cost control, and production procedures are consistently followed.

The store manager is also responsible for ensuring that sanitation practices and the store environment meet or exceed the standards established by the Florida Department of Agriculture and the brand.
