Key Responsibilities of Role Conduct statutory thorough examinations and inspections of lifting equipment, accessories and machines in accordance with LOLER and PUWER requirements. Inspect and test a wide variety of lifting accessories and equipment, including but not limited to racking, chain slings, wire rope slings, shackles, hooks and eyebolts. Complete accurate inspection reports and certification records, ensuring compliance and traceability via our digital system, Core.
Identify and report defects, unsafe conditions or non-compliance issues to customers promptly. Provide advice and guidance to customers on remedial actions, safe use and maintenance of lifting equipment. Liaise with customers on-site to explain findings, ensuring they understand compliance requirements. Support the service team in maintaining equipment standards and contribute to audits when required. Promote safe lifting practices and uphold the companys safety, quality and compliance standards.
Day to Day Tasks Travelling to customer sites in a company vehicle. Carrying out planned thorough examinations and statutory inspections. Recording inspection findings clearly in accordance with company and legal requirements. Tagging and identifying inspected equipment as compliant or quarantined. Supporting repairs, replacements or follow-up inspections where required. Advising customers on improvements to lifting operations and compliance obligations. Ensuring documentation is up to date and submitted promptly for compliance records Key Skills and Experience Minimum 3 years experience in lifting equipment inspection, service or maintenance.
Strong understanding of LOLER, PUWER and relevant industry legislation. Knowledge and practical experience of lifting equipment, accessories and associated safety standards. Familiarity with LEEA codes of practice and willingness to work towards or hold a LEEA Diploma/qualifications. Competence in identifying defects and non-compliance in lifting equipment. Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, with the ability to explain inspection outcomes clearly. High attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills.
