Operator – 2nd Shift

• Setting up and running a mix of semi-automatic and manual machines in a machine shop environment
• Involved in setups, inspections, and troubleshooting when issues arise
• Set up and run a range of machines including lapping, polishing, and tool grinding
• Use cutting tools such as diamond grinding wheels
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
• Work to tight tolerances (down to four decimal places)
• Carry out first-piece inspections to ensure work meets specifications
• Spot and troubleshoot mechanical issues on machines
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all safety procedures (non-negotiable)

• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• Experience with machining equipment, tools, and gauges
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and tolerances
• Basic math skills (algebra and geometry, nothing too exotic)
• Confidence setting up and operating machines, not just running them
• A detail-focused mindset—especially when working to tight tolerances
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• A willingness to learn new machines and processes

Demonstrates expertise in setting up and operating various machining equipment while ensuring adherence to tight tolerances and safety procedures. Proficient in reading blueprints and performing inspections to maintain quality standards.
