Youth Pastor (Next Gen)

Position Overview

Glad Tidings Church is a Spirit-filled, Christ-centered Assemblies of God congregation (160+) committed to helping people flourish in the life God designed for over 80 years. We believe flourishing happens as people are rooted in God’s Word, growing in authentic community, and living on mission through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our desire is to see the next generation know Jesus deeply, love His Church, and live boldly for His purposes.

The Youth Pastor will lead students (grades 6–12) into a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and build a thriving youth ministry where students are discipled, empowered, and equipped to flourish spiritually, relationally, and missionally.

Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship
  • Lead students toward spiritual maturity through biblically sound, Spirit-led teaching
  • Develop and implement a clear youth discipleship pathway aligned with the church’s Flourish vision
  • Create opportunities for students to grow in prayer, worship, Scripture, and dependence on the Holy Spirit
  • Model a Christ-centered life that reflects integrity, humility, and spiritual leadership
Youth Ministry (Next Gen)
  • Plan and lead weekly youth services, small groups, and discipleship environments
  • Organize camps, retreats, conferences, outreach events, and mission opportunities
  • Create safe, welcoming, and engaging environments where students feel they belong and can grow
  • Encourage student involvement in worship, service, and church-wide ministry opportunities
Leadership & Volunteer Development
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd adult volunteers who serve in student ministry
  • Build a healthy, unified leadership culture that reflects the church’s values
  • Identify, mentor, and develop student leaders, helping them discover and use their God-given gifts
  • Assist with Fine Arts under the direction of the Worship Pastor, and work with the Young Adults Leaders (Solstice Ministry)
Family & Church Partnership
  • Partner with parents and guardians as the primary spiritual influencers in students’ lives
  • Maintain regular communication with families regarding ministry vision, events, and student growth
  • Collaborate with church staff and ministry leaders to support unity and shared mission
  • Help students transition smoothly into young adult or adult ministry
Pastoral Care & Administration
  • Provide pastoral care, prayer, and support to students and families during times of need
  • Manage youth ministry budget, calendar, and planning processes responsibly
  • Ensure all ministry activities comply with church policies, safety standards, and child protection guidelines
  • Participate fully in staff meetings, planning sessions, and leadership development and mentorship
  • Direct report to the Lead Pastor
Qualifications
  • An authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to youth ministry
  • Agreement with the beliefs, mission, and values of the church and the Assemblies of God
  • Previous youth ministry leadership experience preferred
  • Ministry training or biblical education preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Assemblies of God credentialed or willing to pursue credentialing
  • Strong leadership, communication, relational, and organizational skills
  • A heart for evangelism, discipleship, and developing the next generation
  • Complete a background check
Schedule & Commitment
  • Full-time position requiring availability on evenings, weekends, and special events
  • Ability to attend camps, retreats, conferences, and off-site ministry activities
