Quality Engineer

We are seeking a proactive Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations by ensuring product quality, driving process improvements, and maintaining compliance with applicable standards. The role focuses on identifying and resolving quality issues, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with engineering, production, and suppliers to reduce defects, improve yield, and deliver consistent, reliable products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) for nonconforming products and process failures.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze quality metrics (PPM, yield, SPC) to monitor process performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Design and execute inspection plans, control plans, and measurement system analyses (MSA) to ensure effective quality control.
  • Support new product introductions by developing quality requirements, performing process audits, and validating manufacturing processes.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement projects using Lean methods to reduce waste and improve flow in manufacturing.
  • Apply Six Sigma problem-solving tools (DMAIC) to reduce variation and improve process capability.
  • Perform supplier quality management, including audits, incoming inspection requirements, and corrective action coordination.
  • Create and maintain documentation required for ISO/TS or other applicable quality management systems and assist with internal and external audits.
  • Train production teams on quality standards, inspection techniques, and corrective-action procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and procurement to ensure design for manufacturability and quality by design.
  • Use statistical tools and software to analyze data and present findings to stakeholders with recommended actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Practical experience with Lean manufacturing principles and leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), measurement system analysis (MSA), FMEA, and root cause analysis tools (8D, fishbone, 5-why).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other relevant quality management systems and audit processes.
  • Experience with quality inspection tools and methods, GD&T, and product testing standards relevant to the industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and statistical software (Minitab, JMP, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to train manufacturing teams.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
