Position Overview

Dunwoody is launching a new Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering for Fall 2027 and seeks an Assistant Professor to support both teaching and curriculum development. The role is 50% teaching existing School of Engineering courses and 50% leading curriculum design and continuous improvement for the new program.

Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain curriculum for the Civil Engineering program.
  • Teach common engineering courses within the School of Engineering.
  • Collaborate with Dunwoody and Stratasys to develop new applications for 3‑D printed parts and tooling; supervise student fabrication of parts to print specifications.
  • Monitor and assess students using the Canvas LMS and provide instructional feedback.
  • Instill professional principles, skills, and work ethics in students.
  • Assist with maintenance of lab equipment when required.
  • Create a positive learning environment and facilitate student learning activities.
  • Develop and upgrade lesson material and training aids.
  • Work with faculty and other departments to design and develop curriculum.
  • Assist in marketing and recruitment of students.
  • Recommend equipment needs and purchases to the director and dean.
  • Participate in industry and professional organizations to maintain program health.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • MN Professional Engineer license (required; additional license preferred).
  • Experience with Civil3D or other related CAD software.
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: structural, transportation, geotechnical, water resources, environmental.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a civil engineer.
