We are seeking an experienced Payroll Implementation Specialist with hands-on expertise in ADP platforms to lead and support payroll system implementations, transitions, and optimizations. This role is ideal for someone who understands payroll operations deeply, can manage complex configurations, and partners well with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure a smooth and compliant payroll process.
ADP Experience Required
Pay: $45-$60+/HR
2-3 month contract possibility of becoming permanent
Key Responsibilities- Lead payroll implementations, migrations, or system transitions using ADP platforms (Lyric, Workforce Now, Vantage, or Enterprise preferred)
- Gather business requirements and translate/troubleshoot them into payroll system configurations
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders, employees and ADP implementation teams
- Configure earnings, deductions, tax settings, direct deposit, and benefit integrations
- Ensure accurate setup of multi-state payroll tax jurisdictions, union employees and compliance rules
- Support parallel payroll testing, reconciliation, and validation of payroll outputs
- Troubleshoot payroll processing issues during and post-implementation
- Develop payroll process documentation and standard operating procedures
- Train payroll, HR, and finance teams on new system functionality and best practices
- Support post-go-live stabilization and optimization efforts
- 3+ years of payroll implementation or payroll systems experience
- Strong hands-on experience with ADP payroll platforms (Workforce Now strongly preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processing, tax compliance, garnishments, and benefits deductions
- Experience with payroll data conversion and system integrations
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain payroll concepts to non-payroll teams
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus
- Experience with system conversions from other payroll platforms to ADP
- Knowledge of timekeeping integrations and HRIS system connections
- Multi-state or high-volume payroll experience
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Proactive problem-solver
- Strong client-service mindset
- Able to work independently while keeping stakeholders informed
