Mechatronics & Robotics Technician
The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (Maintenance Technician II) supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment, material handling systems, and pneumatic systems throughout a large warehouse facility. This role focuses on ensuring high-speed, highly automated conveyor and robotic systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably through quality predictive and preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities- Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as automated conveyor systems and related components.
- Perform quality predictive and preventative maintenance routines on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, following established documentation and procedures.
- Complete battery changes and conduct preventative maintenance on industrial batteries used in material handling equipment.
- Enter equipment downtime data into daily logs and accurately complete preventative maintenance (PM) sheets.
- Create, manage, and close work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems to quickly identify root causes and restore equipment to service.
- Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose issues and perform repairs on material handling equipment and automated conveyor systems.
- Apply knowledge of basic electrical and electronic components to maintain and repair controls and building operations systems.
- Track, store, and manage the department's inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on material handling equipment (MHE) systems, including controls and robotics.
- Follow and demonstrate safety standards and procedures in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and facility safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and system performance.
- Use Microsoft Office applications to document work, prepare reports, and communicate maintenance activities.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of robotic equipment and PLC-based control systems as needed.
- Troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations and automated systems.
- At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or automated equipment.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
- At least 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Minimum 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles.
- At least 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or warehouse environment.
- Minimum 1+ year of experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics of material handling equipment systems.
- At least 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems in an industrial setting.
- Experience with automated conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Comfort working in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and equipment, including diagnostics, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and work order creation.
- Experience working with conveyors and other material handling equipment, including controls and robotics.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations and automated systems.
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for managing work orders and maintenance activities.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a willingness to identify and implement process and reliability improvements.
- Willingness to learn and grow within a highly automated, robotics-focused maintenance environment.
- Experience with material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and facility safety requirements.
- Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in the mechanical or electrical field (preferred).
- 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field (preferred).
- At least 2+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems (preferred).
- Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial or warehouse environment (preferred).
