Accounting Manager
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager oversees core accounting operations, including account reconciliations, general ledger management, month‑end close activities, accounts payable, and procurement functions. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across all accounting processes while supervising staff and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate demonstrates a clear progression of responsibility, increasing complexity in assignments, and strong analytical and leadership capabilities. Position also assists the Director of Finance in managing various high‑level accounting, budgeting, costing and reporting functions.
Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in performing accounting functions and analysis including general ledger and accounts payable experience.
- Minimum 2 years demonstrated progression in accounting responsibilities, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls and accounting best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business management preferred.
- Good understanding of GAAP and its application to internal accounting practices and procedures, with audit and tax requirements as they relate to non‑profits.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision; plan own work schedule effectively and multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced setting.
- Ability to communicate clearly with Agency staff and management team, as well as to outside agencies, vendors and patients in a professional, courteous and confidential manner.
- Proficient in use of office equipment, i.e., calculator, copy machine, telephone and fax machine.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, General Ledger Software and other business systems, particularly Word and Excel.
- Must regard work as confidential.
- Must have current driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis commercial insurance agency.
- Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
$62,400.00–$75,088.00 annualized. Pay range considers location, preferred experience, preferred education as described above.

Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between Axis Health System locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
