Job Summary
The Courtroom Assistant provides coordination of courtroom proceedings and performs various specialized legal clerical support duties related to the high volume, fast‑paced operations of a Juvenile Court division.

- High School diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in a court or legal environment.
- Combined education and experience qualifications may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications.
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English.
- Experience with in a courtroom environment, maintaining order and integrity of the court process.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
365 (Teams, SharePoint, One Drive, Outlook, Word, Excel), iCIS, OnBase, eFile, multi‑line telephone system, e‑courtroom equipment, and basic office equipment. - High level of customer service in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of court policies, procedures, and operations;
State laws, rules, and regulations. - Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to provide directives to large groups.
- Critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and ability to make sound decisions in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Interact directly with the public, attorneys, case managers, court staff, outside agency staff, court interpreters, MCSO deputies, and court security.
- Prepare the courtroom for hearings, coordinate courtroom actions with the Courtroom Clerk, and manage the courtroom during proceedings, maintaining order and integrity of the court process.
- Prepare e‑courtroom equipment (digital FTR recorder, white noise machine, electronic presentation equipment, electronic fingerprint equipment, etc.) for use during hearings; coordinate the use of and run equipment during hearings and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Utilize the court system (iCIS) check‑in and printed calendar to determine whether case parties are present, obtain additional information/documents needed for the court from litigants, call all parties into the courtroom, and communicate cases called with the courtroom clerk and the Judicial Officer.
- Prepare files for the court, distribute the court calendar, and review files for missing information and court readiness.
- Assist with case processing and perform critical data entry of hearing outcomes and results into the court system (iCIS) in real time.
- Work collaboratively with other divisions to offer assistance in times of need, emergency situations, and as scheduled.
- Provide back‑up coverage of Judicial Assistant duties at the direction of the Judicial Officer/court administration.
- Assist the Judicial Officer and Judicial Assistant with the calendar and other assignments by request.
The employee must be able to travel to any Superior Court for coverage assignments as directed by Juvenile Court Administration, ranging from one week to several months. While performing the duties, the employee regularly speaks clearly and hears; sees details of objects less than a few feet away; sits, stands, walks, uses hands, reaches with arms, and occasionally pushes, pulls, or lifts up to 20pounds.
