* Position Summary:
** A Theatrical Technical Director is responsible for the safety and oversight of the technical theatre needs of the Theatre productions and building. This is staff position in the Theatre area of the Department of Performing Arts.

* Job Description:
**** Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
*** Maintain and ensure safety of all students, faculty, staff and patrons in the building for all events and daily classes.
* Manage student build crews
* Attend production meetings
* Attend all technical rehearsals
* Create production schedule for season including all renters using the theatre spaces.
* Manage budget for sets, props, sound, lights, costumes for all productions
* Identify, plan and manage maintenance budget for all production equipment
* Attend, oversight and participation in all production strikes
* Point person with Physical Plant for any repairs, issues related to performance spaces, scene shop, light shop & booth.
* Engage authentically with students, the department, and colleagues
* Takes responsibility for communicating with Chair about any necessary grading of student work and at midterm and at the end of each semester
* Manage in building and campus zircon storage of props, lights, and useable set pieces.
* Implement safety procedures as changes are made or safety needs are identified. Encourage students to use industry standard safety protocol. Organize any training with students needed to keep everyone up to current standards.
* Create training procedures on all equipment and tools. Also appropriate documentation of student competency on this equipment.
* Advise season selection as needed (with respect to size of department, tech support, and production schedule needs)
* Coordinate with other departments when necessary
* Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
* Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
** Required Education, Specialized
Skills and Experience:
*** Demonstrated experience managing students in the scene shop
* Demonstrated experience constructing scenery
* Experience collaborating as a team player colleagues and community
* Ability to provide technical direction for all shows, including leading student-focused design and crew teams, and budget management.
* Demonstrated ability to mentor students in technical theatre.
* A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
** Preferred Education, Specialized
Skills and Experience:
*** A completed degree in a theatrical design discipline
* OSHA Certification.
+ Knowledge of all necessary technical programs to produce designs for set, lights, projections, and audio. + Knowledge and proficiency with carpentry tools and set building standards. + Supervise construction and installation of technical elements (Sets, Props, Lights, Projections, Sound, Rigging)
** Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility:
** This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Performing Arts

* Typical work hours Mon - Fri, 11:00am-5:00pm, while classes are in session, all technical rehearsals, and strike
** Compensation
* * The hourly rate is $30.00/hour for this position.
