Job Description

Durango School District is accepting applications for Therapeutic Service Aide in the Hub Program at Big Picture High School. This is a 9‑month managerial/technical, non‑exempt, 188‑day position that includes full benefits and begins August 17, 2026.

Summary

The Hub Program Therapeutic Service Aide will be responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day support of identified students, managing the school environment, facilitating skills groups, ensuring open and frequent communication across agency providers, supporting the referral and new student intake processes, and advocating for student and family personal, social and academic needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support new referrals and intake processing of new students, providing individual and group support to program teachers and therapists.
  • Facilitate communication across agency partnerships and link student social‑emotional and academic progress; collect and analyze data, report to community stakeholders including parents, administrators, students, staff, and, if necessary, the Board of Education.
  • Facilitate wellness skills group and provide academic support in individual and group settings.
  • Support classroom management and personalized learning; provide coaching on personal, social, and academic matters.
  • Participate in Hub program meetings and staffing of students; attend professional development in the therapeutic model.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training

4‑year degree required; preferred BA in human services or related field. Preferred two years’ experience working with at‑risk youth in a therapeutic setting.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

CPR and First Aid training preferred at hire; required within one month of hire. Valid driver’s license required.

Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal relation skills.
  • Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Experience planning for and co‑leading therapeutic skills groups; willingness to receive training in the program’s primary therapeutic model.
  • Understanding importance of therapeutic coaching/training for at‑risk students; knowledge and experience with various mental and emotional disabilities.
  • Ability to assist students with all core curriculum subjects.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, building/department procedures.
  • Work effectively in a team setting.
  • Recognize importance of safety in the workplace; follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, use appropriate safety equipment, report unsafe conditions.
Materials and Equipment Operating Knowledge
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email/calendar systems, financial software, publishing software.
  • Experience with typical office equipment (telephone, copier, fax, email).
  • Ability to learn and work in a variety of databases.
