Job Title: Cultural & Student Resource Support Professional
SUMMARY
:
Funded through Title VI EASIE grant, the role works with the Title VI Program Manager, school-based administration and staff, students and families to meet annual program objectives. With cultural knowledge and competency, the professional works directly with the Title VI program and school staff to ensure a safe, welcoming, and individually responsive educational environment that promotes student academic success and cultural identity.
- The Title VI Student Resource Support Professional will play a key role with:
- Monitoring student attendance and academic progress
- Communicating educational, social-emotional and other needs
- Planning and implementing activities that increase knowledge of cultural identity and awareness (Native American Club/Crew, culturally relevant field trips, special events/guests)
- Supporting parent and family involvement and increasing linkage to resources
- Supporting school-based sites with implementing curriculum and PD activities
- The ideal candidate will:
- Have knowledge of Title VI and Native American education programs
- Have experience working with diverse learners from indigenous families
- Exhibit passion for creating equitable and culturally inclusive environments
- Have demonstrated evidence of the ability to work with district administrators, diverse staff and outside stakeholders
- Have the capacity to view the organization through a variety of lenses and help shape systems and processes
- Utilize district database systems and facilitate conversations using student attendance and performance data
- Integrate student data to identify strengths and areas for improvement
- Plan and deliver professional development to staff that reflects the needs of the staff and students
- Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist school-based teams (administrators and staff) in implementing Title VI program goals, such as:
- Developing a schedule that ensures regular in-person participation at district school sites based on number of eligible Title VI student populations
- Monitoring student attendance and developing responsive strategies to ensure student access and participation, including outreach and linkage for families based on needs (e.g., transportation, after care)
- Monitor student academic progress and support the school and family with strategies for increasing student success, including outreach and linkage for families based on needs (e.g., tutoring, referrals)
- Provide consistent communication to families and school staff about Title VI programming, student needs, access to community resources
- Work directly with students, families and schools to increase student engagement and achievement
- Increase knowledge of cultural identity and awareness by supporting culturally-responsive professional development across the district
- Support the planning and implementation of monthly or bi-monthly Native American Club/Crew meetings at all DSD school sites
- Help plan and implement culturally relevant field trips/presenters
- Assist the Title VI Program Manager with implementation of program goals, such as:
- Attending all Title VI meetings and community events
- Participating in weekly 1:1 check-ins to monitor student/program needs
- Identifying and developing PD for district staff
- Supporting the implementation of indigenous curriculum
- Building strong relationships with Native American Parent Advisory Committee (NAPAC) members
- Actively engaging with community stakeholders to seek out information, programs and additional resources to better support Title VI students and families (e.g., La Plata Youth, The Hive, B&G Club)
- Assist school-based teams (administrators and staff) in implementing Title VI program goals, such as:
