Position Summary
Fort Lewis College seeks to expand the pool of adjunct faculty available to teach for the academic year and beyond. Adjunct instructors are responsible for teaching 3 credits per course in a specific discipline (Business, Science, Math, Music, Theater, etc.). These are temporary, non‑benefited, one‑semester appointments that may be renewed.
Job DescriptionEssential Functions and Responsibilities
- Facilitate courses that are already developed either online or in-person
- Promptly assess student work, providing specific and actionable feedback.
- Adapt instruction based on students’ needs while maintaining high expectations.
- Continuously improve instruction to ensure Student Learning Outcomes are met.
- Maintain competency and currency in your professional field.
- Follow all college policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with others, utilizing a collegial style in all forms of communication.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508
- Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Master’s Degree or another advanced degree in your professional field
- Ability to teach courses within the particular discipline as needed
- Demonstrated teaching excellence at the College or University Level.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
- Ph.D., JD, MFA, or another terminal degree in your discipline
- Demonstrated success working in a diverse student environment
- Professional experience outside of academia
- Online teaching experience
Adjunct Faculty report to the department chair.
