Job DescriptionDurango School District is accepting applications for an Engineering/Robotics Teacher at Durango High School for the 2026/2027 school year. A Colorado Teaching License in one or more of the following areas is required by the start date:
Technology Education grades 6-12, CTE Engineering & Technology grades 6-12, Computer Science grades K-12, or Secondary Science grades 6-12.
For the 26/27 SY, this position includes an $1,800 one‑time bonus! (Note, bonus pro‑rated for late start)

SUMMARY
:
Plan instruction and assessment aligned with District learner outcomes and State achievement standards. Supervise assigned students and maintain a positive learning environment. Adapt instruction to meet the individual learning needs of all students, increasing the probability of advancing their achievement. Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
- Utilize effective teaching practices to teach the adopted curricula for assigned grades and subjects so that students attain adopted grade/course expectations and standards. Modify and tailor the curriculum as necessary to address individual student differences, learning styles, and student abilities.
- Develop lesson plans and instruct with adopted materials. Utilize supplemental classroom materials, media, and appropriate teaching methods for assigned levels and subjects.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to assess student learning, achievement, and performance and report the results as required by District Policy and school procedures.
- Model, promote, and provide instruction related to character education, including citizenship and responsible behavior, bullying prevention, conflict resolution skills, and responsible work habits and ethics.
- Implement student IEPs, 504 Plans, and Behavior Support Plans as outlined. Attend meetings pertaining to student IEPs and 504s and provide updates on performance to case managers.
- Provide safety instruction for students when activities, chemicals, products, tools, or equipment pose possible harm, and ensure adherence to safety requirements.
- Maintain an orderly, positive learning environment free from disruptive behavior by implementing proactive classroom management strategies and enforcing the Student Conduct Code.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with families to share information regarding the student’s educational program and assist families in improving the student’s home–school relationship.
- Collaborate with the IEP Team to develop behavior support plans, health plans, safety plans, and crisis plans when necessary.
- Abide by all applicable federal and Colorado laws, and Board of Education policies, District Regulations, and school procedures relating to employment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist Math Teachers in developing and delivering interventions for students needing additional support in mathematics.
- Monitor student goals, outcomes, and maintain communication with families regarding progress.
- Utilize effective teaching practices and adapt instruction for all students.
- Provide safety instruction where applicable and enforce the Student Conduct Code.
- Maintain ongoing family relationships and support student progress.
- Work with the IEP Team to develop behavioral support, health, safety, and crisis plans as needed.
- Abide by all applicable laws and District policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
