Durango School District is accepting applications for one (1) Preschool Enrichment Instructor - CO Dept. of Early Childhood Lead Teacher Qualified position. 27 hours per week: 3 hrs/day on Monday, and 8 hrs/day Tuesday‑Thursday. This is a district‑wide position. Must meet Lead Teacher qualifications under Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing rules or be willing to acquire credentials by the start date.

Work with the CDE licensed preschool teacher to assist in delivering the district’s curriculum and provide enrichment opportunities to extend student learning while meeting the needs of all students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Utilize effective teaching practices to implement the preschool curriculum.
- Create an engaging classroom environment that meets the needs of the whole child.
- Modify the environment and activities as necessary to address individual student differences and developmental levels.
- Assist in implementing each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and ensure that appropriate classroom adaptations and modifications are made for students.
- Assist in monitoring each student's IEP including goals and benchmarks, performing ongoing assessments and documenting progress.
- Develop, schedule, coordinate, and implement enrichment opportunities for preschool students.
- Perform other program administration tasks such as registering students, completing required reports, etc.
- Comply with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, County Health Department, and the district’s policies and regulations.
- Maintain student files and ensure classrooms and programs comply with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.
- Implement curriculum‑based assessments for all students; analyze data; drive data‑based decisions around programming.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Lead teacher qualified under Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing rules or willing to acquire credentials.
- Lead teacher qualifications require one of the following:
- Bachelors: EL/ED, ECE, family child development, child psychology.
- Two years’ college degree with two ECE courses.
- Associate degree in ECE.
- Credential Level 3, no additional experience required.
- Two‑year college degree, 2 ECE courses, and 6 months experience.
- 12 semester hours with 9 months experience.
3 years of experience in a preschool program preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS- Lead teacher qualified under Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing rules or willing to acquire credentials.
- CPR and First Aid training preferred at hire; required within three months of hire.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training required within three months of hire.
- Criminal Background Check required for hire.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills.
- Experience with parent communication and involvement.
- Familiar with Colorado Academic Standards for preschool.
- Experience with conducting student observations and providing authentic assessments.
- Ability to use effective interventions for at‑risk learners.
- Knowledge of developmental, emotional, and behavioral disabilities.
- Knowledge of early childhood development.
- Experience in data collection and data analysis.
- Ability to assist in developing and supporting behavior intervention plans, classroom management systems, and reinforcement systems.
- Non‑violent and physical intervention techniques.
- Ability to use proper English grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, superintendent policies, and building/department procedures.
- Commitment to grow and develop knowledge, skills, and attitude through professional development.
- Knowledge of first aid skills.
