Substitute Teacher
Licensed Substitute Teachers Needed
Durango School District is recruiting licensed substitute teachers for the 2026 - 2027 school year to work with our amazing students and staff!
We pay $185 per day, for a full day assignment. 3-5 day consecutive substituting assignments pay $195 per day. Long term substitute assignments pay $265 per day.
This position requires a Colorado 3- or 5-year substitute license or a Colorado teaching license OR a 1-year Colorado substitute license and completion of at least one year of post-secondary education.

We are recruiting substitutes who are able to work a flexible schedule at multiple locations and in different positions.
Requirements include:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license OR
- A 3- or 5-year Colorado substitute authorization OR
- A 1-year Colorado substitute authorization with completion of at least one year of post-secondary education.

- Experience working with children. Experience in a classroom setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication, basic language, basic math, and basic writing skills.
- Minimum of two professional or academic references. Note - We do not accept family or friends as references.
Candidates must also have strong computer skills. Substitutes are required to navigate through electronic system independently to accept and decline assignments; maintain their schedules; view teacher's notes; and communicate with staff.
