Licensed District‑Wide Daily Substitute (2026/2027)

Starting Date: Immediately

Durango School District 9‑R is recruiting Licensed Substitute Teachers who will work exclusively with the district during the 2026/2027 school year. This position pays $250 per day and includes a full health and dental insurance package.

• Valid Colorado teaching license, a Colorado 3‑5 year substitute license, or a Colorado substitute license with a letter from a university indicating completion of student teaching and the date the individual will be eligible to apply for a Colorado teaching license.
• Candidate may be in the process of obtaining the license at the time of application.
• Ability to secure transportation to all school sites within the Durango School District.
• Availability to work student contact days for the 26/27 school year, Monday to Friday.
• Experience working with children.
• Experience working in classrooms as a contracted teacher or student teacher preferred.
• Strong ability to engage students with lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
• Ability to implement positive behavior supports and create a highly productive learning environment.
• Willingness to substitute in any classroom grades PK‑12 and all special programs.
• Ability to uphold and adhere to school and district policies as well as state regulations.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
