Durango School District is accepting applications for an Instructional Para educator at Park Elementary. This position is M-F, 0.63 FTE, 25.2 hours per week, with half benefits. The position begins August 17, 2026.

Assist teacher with instructing students, reinforcing materials and skills, implementing curriculum, maintaining technology, managing student behavior, and supervising students throughout the day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist teachers with lesson plans, classroom maintenance, reinforcement of skills, assessment scoring and recording, progress monitoring, instructional material preparation, clerical duties, file and record maintenance, and small‑group or one‑on‑one tutoring.
- Supervise and monitor student behavior during daily activities (cafeteria, playground, hallway, buses, crosswalks, field trips, etc.).
- Assist with office duties including answering phones, updating databases, maintaining records, directing visitors, preparing reports and correspondence, processing mail, filing, and keyboarding.
- Attend building meetings, in‑services, school functions, and trainings.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Skills Competence (minimum 2 years of college or 48 semester hours of college coursework) OR pass paraprofessional test (CDE and ESSA qualifications) prior to hiring.
None required. Experience in a school setting and/or educational training preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations- None required. CPR and First Aid certifications may be required within 3 months after hire.

- Basic operating knowledge of general office equipment and microcomputers.

- Multilingual oral and written communication skills preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cooperatively in a team setting.
- Knowledge of Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, and building/department procedures.
- Continuous professional development to grow and develop knowledge, skills, and attitude.
- Support classroom management and reinforcement systems.
- Use effective interventions for at‑risk learners.
- Operating knowledge of typical office equipment (copier, fax machine, e‑mail, etc.).
