Research Services Librarian
The Research Services Librarian is a half-time (20 hours per week), regular, exempt staff appointment reporting to the Library Director. The position is responsible for coordinating research and reference services, supervising Peer Research Coach student employees, and serving as liaison librarian to assigned academic departments.
Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesResearch Services
- Coordinates Library research and reference services, including research and information desk activities and research assistance provided in person, by phone, and by email.
- Contributes to developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and best practices for research services.
- Supervises (hires, trains, schedules, oversees, and evaluates) Peer Research Coach student employees.
- Orients and trains new research service providers.
- Assesses research services and recommends improvements based on user needs and best practices.
- Evaluates and implements appropriate emerging technologies that support research services and provides documentation and training for library staff as needed.
Liaison & Instruction
- Serves as library liaison to assigned academic departments.
- Provides library instruction and research consultations for assigned liaison areas.
- Collaborates with faculty to support student research and information literacy.
- Performs collection development and collection maintenance in assigned subject areas.
- ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science.
- Experience providing research or reference services in an academic library or comparable setting.
- Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience providing library instruction.
- Experience supervising student employees.
- Experience serving as a liaison librarian or performing collection development in an academic library.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Light to moderate lifting is required.
Travel
Less than 5% travel is expected for this position.

Compensation
The salary range is $28,00 to $31,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
