Agile Space Industries is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to lead in a fast‑paced, highly technical environment. As an Engineering Manager within the Product Engineering team, you will play a key role in building a world‑class, inclusive engineering team delivering innovation with a customer‑focused and quality‑oriented approach, through effective leadership and the commitment to fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team culture.
Additionally, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of internal tools, technology, and processes utilized for product development and testing of complex space flight hardware and ground support equipment.
The Engineering Manager for this role will be responsible for leading the Mechanical Engineering and Additive Engineering functions. The Manager’s primary role includes understanding the technical and business needs, developing the associated functional capabilities to delivery skillsets to the needs. The Engineering Manager will perform in a blended role of team management and project execution.
The Mechanical and Additive Engineering functional groups at Agile are highly capable in the fields of mechanical design, CAD and drawing management, BOM management, GD&T, design for laser powder metal additive printing methods, and material and processes.
Responsibilities- Lead team management efforts including hiring and onboarding, performance management, career development, and team engagement.
- Foster open and effective communication within the functional team, across organizational groups, and project teams, and with senior organization leadership.
- Manage and allocate resources across projects and initiatives.
- Track team performance and productivity through defined metrics and feedback.
- Establish and maintain functional and technology capabilities for Mechanical Engineering and Additive Engineering.
- Develop and improve engineering processes to support consistent execution, scalability, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to cost, schedule, and technical development content for bids and proposals.
- Define work packages and provide oversight for deliverables and technical outputs.
- Assist program management with team organization, resource demands, and project execution.
- Coordinate closely with peers across organizational groups to support issue resolution.
- Conduct direct project execution actions as a hands‑on member of product development project teams.
Requirements
- B.S. or advanced degree in engineering or a related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in product development.
- 5+ years of project leadership and/or organizational team leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and growing engineering talent.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑informed approach.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills across diverse technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Multi‑disciplined leader confident working through ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Experience with product lifecycle management and configuration management practices.
- Ability to work full‑time onsite in Durango, Colorado.
- Demonstrated experience with mechanical design, laser powder bed fusion techniques, and material and processing principles.
