SUMMARYDirect, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate maintenance engineers and day custodial personnel assigned to district facilities and campuses as designated by the Director of Facilities. Ensure facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, efficient, and operational condition through leadership of maintenance operations, preventative maintenance programs, facility inspections, work order management, contractor coordination, event support, safety compliance, and customer service.
Serve as the primary facilities leader for assigned campuses and functions as the Facilities Department representative to building administrators regarding maintenance, custodial support, facility readiness, safety, and operational priorities.
Collaborate with the Building Maintenance Supervisor, Evening Custodial Manager, and other Facilities Department leadership personnel to ensure consistent district wide standards, operational continuity, efficient resource utilization, and effective customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Supervise, assign work to, train, support, evaluate, and develop assigned maintenance engineers and day custodial personnel.
- Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention of assigned Facilities Department personnel.
- Review and approve employee schedules, leave requests, time records, and related personnel documentation.
- Coordinate staffing resources across assigned facilities to address operational priorities, emergency needs, workload fluctuations, and service requirements.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, corrective action recommendations, and professional development opportunities for assigned staff.
- Plan, organize, and manage assigned maintenance programs, projects, and operational activities.
- Coordinate and monitor preventative maintenance programs to maximize facility reliability and operational efficiency.
- Review, prioritize, assign, and monitor maintenance work requests utilizing the district work order management system.
- Monitor FMX work orders assigned to supervised staff and ensure timely completion, documentation, and customer follow-up.
- Conduct inspections of facilities, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, operational deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate maintenance-related contractor and vendor activities at assigned facilities.
- Assist in planning and coordinating facility improvement projects and operational upgrades.
- Provide direct supervision and operational support for assigned day custodial personnel to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and ready for educational use.
- Coordinate with the Evening Custodial Manager to ensure continuity between daytime and evening custodial operations.
- Collaborate with custodial leadership to investigate, address, and resolve cleanliness concerns, service deficiencies, and customer complaints.
- Support implementation of district custodial standards, cleaning protocols, and operational expectations.
- Coordinate facility operations and maintenance priorities with principals, building administrators, and district departments.
- Coordinate event support, facility readiness activities, and operational requirements for school and community events occurring during assigned work periods.
- Ensure facilities remain operationally ready to support instructional programs, extracurricular activities, community use, and district initiatives.
- Maintain effective communication and customer service with students, staff, administrators, parents, contractors, and community members.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, building codes, safety requirements, and district policies.
- Participate in facility safety inspections and risk mitigation activities.
- Respond to emergencies, facility incidents, weather events, and operational disruptions as required.
- Assist with snow removal operations and emergency facility support activities as necessary.
- Assist with development and monitoring of maintenance and operational budgets.
- Recommend equipment purchases, operational improvements, and resource allocations to support facility needs.
- Participate in department planning, leadership meetings, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
