Team Up Ameri Corps places Ameri Corps members at organizations throughout Southwest Colorado. Through collaborative service, Team Up Ameri Corps members develop their own professional skills and passions, expand effectiveness of southwest Colorado organizations, and ultimately support people to thrive. Each Team Up Ameri Corps member serves directly at a non-profit, school, or government agency called their Host Site. Members serving at different Host Sites are all part of the Team Up Ameri Corps member cohort;
the cohort meets periodically to connect, learn, and build community together. Members are placed at Host Sites based on their specific skills and interests, as well as their desired location of service. We have both Full- and Part-time positions in a variety of focus areas. All positions require a motivated individual that is committed to improving the well-being of community members in beautiful southwest Colorado.
Position focus areas include, but are not limited to: youth development, restorative justice, immigrant resource navigation, economic mobility, housing security, social emotional learning, and early childhood education. Member Duties :
The Summer Programming Coordinator will be responsible for planning and overseeing the new summer programming at The Reading Room, our community space, reading nook, and free bookshop for youth in Durango. This position will serve closely with the Reading Room Manager to coordinate instructors and volunteers to support programming, schedule weekly workshops and events at The Reading Room, and oversee these programs throughout the summer.
Programs will include youth book clubs, writing and illustrating workshops, and storytelling events. The Summer Programming Coordinator may also plan and teach a weekly or monthly workshop. The ideal candidate enjoys serving with kids and teenagers, has a passion for reading or writing, and is well-organized.
