Community Connections seeks a part-time Community Ambassador in Archuleta County to connect local Archuleta County organizations and individuals with regional resources. This position will help promote Southwest Colorado Cares (SWCC), a regional Community Care Hub that helps residents of southwest Colorado get the health and social services they want or need. This part-time position (7 hours a week) is perfect for a community member who wants flexible, meaningful part-time work and can connect Archuleta County residents with local and regional resources and represent the lived experience of people within their community.

Hourly rate is $20.00, plus reimbursement for travel. We are looking for a Community Ambassador who has experience working with community members and organizations in Archuleta County. Training will be provided; no educational experience required.

Job Description:
The Archuleta County Community Ambassador will help community members and partner agencies know what resources are available in the region to improve the health and well-being of our communities. The Community Ambassador will connect social service agencies and non-profits with partners and community members across the region. The Archuleta County Community Ambassador will share feedback and input from Archuleta county partners with the Southwest Colorado Cares (SWCC) team to ensure the SWCC program meets the needs of Archuleta County partners and community members.

The Community Ambassador will also work with Archuleta county organizations to keep the Southwest Colorado Cares resource directory up to date as the go-to guide for finding local and regional resources. The Archuleta County Community Ambassador will serve as a link between local efforts in Archuleta County to address social needs and the SWCC program.

Community Ambassadors will be part of a regional team and work up to 7 hours per week.

We seek a candidate who specifically has experience and/or relationships with Archuleta county human services, public health, and/or other local non-profit organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather input from Archuleta county partner organizations to share with the SWCC program and team to ensure the program meets local needs
  • Represent the SWCC team and program at Archuleta county events and meetings
  • Share information about Southwest Colorado Cares (SWCC) and its resources with community members and community organizations
  • Contact community organizations in Archuleta county to make sure SWCC has up-to-date information about local resources.

  • Ability to represent the lived experience of marginalized groups within our communities.
  • Ability to travel, by car or public transportation, throughout your county of residence and occasionally to regional meetings at Community Connections offices in Durango or in other communities in the region.
  • Comfortable using phone, email, and videoconferencing to communicate with Southwest Colorado Cares staff, other Ambassadors, and community members or organizations.
  • Adequate internet connectivity, work area and ability to secure all work activity when working remotely
  • Use of standard office equipment
  • Effective written and in-person communication
  • Ability to commute for business, when needed. If driving, must possess a drivers’ license in the state they reside and current auto insurance.
