The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Specialty position is based in Durango, Colorado. This role involves providing specialized neonatal care within a Level II NICU environment, with responsibilities including managing complex patient conditions and working collaboratively with healthcare teams. The position features night shifts, with an emphasis on delivering quality care to neonatal patients and their families.
Job Details- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
All candidates must possess a current BLS (American Heart Association), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and STABLE certification. A minimum of 2 years of neonatal or pediatric experience is required. Candidates should be licensed to submit and work in Colorado. - Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Level II NICU patient care, including managing postpartum mothers and their babies up to a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio per American Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses standards. - Additional Information:
The unit is a Level II NICU with a capacity of 6 designed beds and 2 transition beds that can overflow to 8 with staffing. Staffing ratios are generally 1:2 or 1:3 according to acuity standards. RN staff are expected to take on couplet assignments when required. The unit has ventilators, Cpap, BIpap, and other neonatal respiratory equipment, with neonatologists available 24/7 via telehealth.
This role involves participating in weekend and holiday rotations, with mandatory call and standby shifts as scheduled. The orientation period will include unit-specific training, and staff are expected to adhere to a professional dress code. Floating to other departments is required per hospital policy, and a hospital color/dress code will be provided.
