Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant – Durango, CO
Seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join Riverview Animal Hospital, a 10‑doctor, AAHA‑accredited practice serving the Durango community. The role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of cases and a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities- Obtain patient histories and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and medication administration.
- Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures.
- Perform laboratory diagnostics, including hematology, cytology, urinalysis, and blood chemistry.
- Assist with dentistry, including dental radiographs and prophylaxis.
- Support hospitalized and urgent care patients.
- Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, and preventive care.
- Participate in advanced procedures such as TPLO surgeries, fracture repairs, endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures, brachycephalic airway surgeries, GDV surgeries, splenectomies, rehabilitation services, acupuncture, home hospice care, and advanced dentistry and diagnostics.
- Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience required.
- Credentialed Veterinary Technicians (CVT, RVT, LVT) encouraged to apply.
- Experienced non‑credentialed veterinary professionals will also be considered.
- Anesthesia monitoring experience required.
- Emergency anesthesia experience preferred.
- Dental experience preferred (training available).
- Ability to adapt to multiple doctors' workflows and patient needs.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
