Looking for an active, outdoor role that keeps you connected to your community? The City of Durango is hiring a Parking Enforcement Officer to join our dedicated Parking Division team. In this position, you’ll help keep streets organized and accessible by enforcing parking ordinances, issuing citations, and supporting a safe, welcoming downtown environment.
You’ll patrol on foot and by vehicle, keep an eye on sidewalks and roadways, report safety concerns, and serve as a helpful resource for community members and visitors.

What You’ll Do in This Role:- Enforce City parking ordinances and issue citations when needed.
- Patrol assigned areas on foot and by vehicle to monitor parking restrictions and time limits.
- Provide directions, answer questions, and encourage compliance with parking and public space regulations.
- Serve as a friendly, helpful resource for community members and visitors.
- Appear in Municipal Court to support issued citations, as needed.
- Operate and maintain enforcement tools, including citation and immobilization equipment.
- Communicate with other departments by radio, phone, or email.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Respond to questions and concerns about parking regulations or equipment.
- Report safety hazards or maintenance issues encountered while on patrol.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One year of experience in customer service, enforcement, or a related field.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with community members, visitors, and coworkers.
- Approach interactions with a strong customer service mindset.
- Are comfortable using computers, handheld devices, and specialized enforcement software.
- Can work independently and stay focused while patrolling assigned areas.
- Are willing to learn new skills and apply feedback through training and on-the-job experience.
