JOB SUMMARY
Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers that are dropping off items at retail centers and/or stand‑alone donation centers. The role involves providing excellent, friendly customer service by greeting customers in a timely manner, helping with loading or unloading donations from vehicles or other areas, and handling goods with care. All interactions should reflect the respect for donated items.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Provides excellent customer service, greeting customers in a timely manner and answering product questions as needed.
- Assists every customer by unloading donations from vehicles or other areas.
- Ensures donated items are handled with care, sorted into appropriate bins or production areas.
- Inspects all donations within assigned areas and makes decisions on quality to sort appropriately for the sales floor or for shipment to other locations.
- Maintains a safe, organized, and clean environment for customers and fellow employees within the donation entrance and parking lot areas.
- Maintains remote donation centers, sheds, and/or trailers, following appropriate opening and closing procedures when working at a remote site.
- Ensures supplies are kept well stocked at remote sites as necessary.
- Tracks and reports donation levels daily to ensure trailers do not become over‑stocked when working in remote donation center locations.
- Communicates promptly when donation warehouses and/or trailers are becoming full and a truck is needed.
- Follows all retail center/donation center policies and procedures.
- Assists drivers in loading and unloading donations onto the truck when necessary.
- Follows all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
- Cross trains in other departments or areas; acts as a back‑up for other areas as required.
- Might be required to report to the store ADC or stand‑alone center when necessary.
- Job duties may extend beyond the tasks listed and may include additional responsibilities as required.

- Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. - Experience:
One (1) year of retail experience is preferred. - Decision‑making:
Must be able to make decisions by following Goodwill standards and guidelines. - Computer skills:
Basic computer skills to log into a computer system to order supplies and to send and receive email. - Weather:
Must be able to work in various weather conditions with varying temperatures. - Safety equipment:
Must be able to use safety equipment to assist with lifting heavy objects such as a dolly or pallet jack. - Equipment certification:
Able to obtain Powered Equipment Operator certification to safely operate equipment, hydraulic baler and forklift (forklift certification required). - Communication:
Ability to read, comprehend, write and communicate effectively in English. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers. - Schedule:
Must be able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.
Pay: $16.45/hr this position is eligible for Daily Pay through Daily Pay, a voluntary benefit offering employees access to their pay on a schedule of their choice. Part‑time employees in the Retail and Sales/Operations Division are eligible for paid holidays, sick leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave. All employees may make pre‑tax or post‑tax (Roth) contributions to the retirement plan—must be 18 years of age to participate.
