Position Summary
Job Title:
Debris Staff - all levels (Full Time, Temporary, must start immediately). Base pay ranges from $15 to $35 per hour depending on role and location; overtime is expected. The role is on‑site and will be deployed to various disaster events.
- Report to designated areas at assigned times.
- Attend safety and operational briefings.
- Work with contractors and crews on‑site, reporting daily or as needed to field supervisors.
- Monitor the collection of disaster‑generated debris from authorized areas and document the work as it is performed.
- Ensure that only FEMA‑eligible debris is removed, loaded, and hauled to the disposal site.
- Operate a smartphone application or handheld unit to record vital information.
- Ensure that debris loads are properly contained in the loading container.
- Record and report any damage resulting from debris removal operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work outdoors for long hours in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a background check as needed.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Active listening skills.
- Strong time‑management, oral and written communication skills.
- Capacity to write legibly and communicate clearly.
- Up to 25% travel expected.
- Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods.
- Mobility required on‑site with clients.
- Driving, sitting, and standing for hours at a time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. repetitively throughout the day.
- On‑site position with variable weather and moderate noise levels.
No supervisory responsibilities for this role.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience ensuring only FEMA‑eligible debris is removed, loaded, and hauled to the disposal site.
- Ability to work with contractors and crews on‑site and report daily to field supervisors.
- Dependable and punctual, with a schedule of 6–7 days per week up to 12 hours per day.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
- Valid automobile insurance and clean driving record.
- Smartphone or tablet for data collection as required.
- Reside within commuting distance of the project area.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and able to work in the United States without employer‑sponsored visa.
- Must pass company and client background checks and reference checks upon offer.
- Protective equipment: steel‑toe work boots, personal protective equipment as required.
- Ability to pass criminal background checks.
- Two or more years of debris monitoring experience or multiple storm events.
Temporary positions are not eligible for benefits except as required by law. Regular status positions receive benefits in accordance with company policy.
