Description
The City of Durango's Parks & Recreation team is hiring a part-time Sports Program Coordinator to support youth and adult athletics. In this role, you will help organize leagues, provide game-day support, prepare facilities, and create a safe, positive experience for all participants.

Essential Job Duties
What You'll Do in This Role:
  • Help organize and coordinate youth and adult sports leagues, including scheduling and registration support.
  • Assist with recruiting, scheduling, and supporting part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Serve as a site supervisor during programs and games; step in as needed as a coach, scorekeeper, official, or field crew member.
  • Prepare and maintain athletic facilities, including field lining, net setup, equipment upkeep, and general cleanup.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to questions, resolving concerns, and building positive relationships with participants and user groups.
  • Support marketing efforts and assist with program promotions.
  • Use recreation software to manage registrations, schedules, game results, facility rentals, and surveys.
  • Monitor and maintain league and program equipment.
  • Follow all safety practices and help create a safe environment
Minimum Qualifications
You Have:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent (some college preferred).
  • At least one year of experience in recreation programs, coaching, instruction, sports leagues, or a combination of education and experience that prepares you for this role.
  • The ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and a valid Colorado Driver's License upon hire.

  • Enjoy working with people of all ages and can communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Are comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in active environments.
  • Can lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally move up to 75 pounds.
  • Stay organized, take initiative, and work independently while keeping your supervisor informed.
