Admissions Counselor/University Recruiter

$36,000 Salary

Durant, OK.

Overview:
The Admissions Counselor/University Recruiter is responsible for recruiting, advising, admitting, and matriculating prospective students to Southeast Oklahoma State University. The position focuses on increasing freshman and transfer enrollment while representing the university positively to a diverse constituency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process applications for admission, ensuring compliance with federal, state and university policies and evaluating documents such as transcripts and test scores.
  • Provide accurate and timely notifications of admission decisions and related information before, during, and after the admissions process.
  • Advise prospective students on educational goals, major selection, skill assessment, scholarships, and financial aid planning.
  • Recruit new and returning students, giving accurate admission policy information to prospective students, parents, high‑school counselors, teachers, and administrators.
  • Represent the university at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and public functions, making presentations and speaking about the university to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Conduct campus tours and represent the university professionally with students during campus events.
  • Maintain prospect files, prepare and process mass mailing operations, and evaluate incoming mail in a timely manner.
  • Advise current and prospective students on general admission documentation and processes.
  • Assist with the True‑Blue Ambassador Program, providing training and attending regular meetings.
  • Assist with planning and executing university recruitment events, programs, and campaigns.
  • Support the Vice President for Enrollment Management and/or the Assistant Director on significant matters and assist other office members in achieving goals.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with OSRHE and university admission policies regarding all aspects of student admissions, including student files.
  • Other duties as assigned by upper management.
  • Work nights and weekends as required.
  • Travel as required.

  • Minimum Education, Training, and Experience

    REQUIRED

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, excellent typing skills, 10‑key expertise, and meticulous attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in an environment of constant interruption.
    • Commitment to diversity and ability to work with diverse populations.
    • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
    • Some travel required.

    PREFERRED

    • Experience with Ellucian Colleague, Softdocs, or other student information systems.
    • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and administrators.
