Teens Make Health Happen Mentorship at Health Corps

Location:

Southern Oklahoma (Ardmore, Davis, Dickson, Kingston, Madill, OK).

Hours:

8+ hours per week throughout the academic year 2026‑2027.

Stipend available. College credit may be awarded.

Health Corps is a national, non‑profit organization committed to improving lives by addressing health challenges in communities through engaging programming for teens in education, leadership, and service learning.

Where You Fit In

We are looking for a creative, friendly, self‑starter who will implement an innovative wellness club, Teens Make Health Happen, in 1‑4 middle or high schools in the Southern Oklahoma area. You will act as a catalyst for sustainable change, promoting improved health and wellness and creating leadership opportunities for teens at your assigned sites.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strong relationships with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective delivery of Health Corps programming across 1‑4 school sites.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Program Manager and other area mentors, and participate in ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities.
  • Assess schools’ needs and progress by researching health challenges, completing needs assessments, reporting, and tracking impact throughout the mentorship.
  • Manage Teens Make Health Happen clubs by planning and implementing the program, committing to 8+ hours a week, and attending assigned school sites for 3‑4+ hours each week for instruction.
  • Host Café O Yea demonstrations monthly and support regional events, while contributing to Health Corps social media platforms (Instagram, Tik Tok, etc.) by sharing program highlights, impact stories, and photos.
  • Commit to the Health Corps mission by prioritizing health and wellness daily and ensuring local health resources are accessible for all students and staff.
  • Represent Health Corps in Southern Oklahoma as an embodiment of the organization’s values, both inside and outside assigned sites, and contribute to outreach efforts connecting teens, staff, and community members to Health Corps resources.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate college student majoring in or interested in public health, public policy, biology, nutrition, marketing, psychology, education, social work, or related fields.
  • Good academic standing at university.
  • Commitment of 8+ hours each week for the entire academic year.
  • Strong appetite to grow personally and professionally as a leader in the community, comfortable speaking and presenting on health‑related topics to teen audiences.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 60 miles within Southern Oklahoma to assigned sites.
  • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
