Role PurposeThe FINANCE MANAGER directs the finance function across the smaller entities within the Teichmann Group. The role covers financial reporting, planning and forecasting, risk management, and tax compliance, and provides commercial support to the CFO and Directors on strategic and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities Accounting & Reporting- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across the allocated entities, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.
- Produce timely, accurate management accounts and operating reports, with clear commentary on trends, variances and risks.
- Manage the external audit process and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Run the annual budget and re-forecast cycles, including kick-off, assumptions, timelines and consolidation.
- Maintain rolling cashflow forecasts and align them with the Group's financing plan to ensure adequate funding for operations, capex, and covenant or regulatory commitments.
- Build integrated views of profit and loss, cashflow and balance sheet impacts, and translate these into actionable recommendations.
- Manage tax planning, VAT returns and annual income tax submissions for the allocated entities.
- Act as finance business partner to the CFO, Directors and operational management, providing input on strategy, capital allocation and major decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, working capital and operational performance.
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team; manage workloads, set expectations and review output.
- Drive standardisation of processes, data and reporting to improve efficiency and reduce error.
- BCom Accounting (Honours) - CA(SA) preferred.
- 3 to 6 years of post-qualification experience with a track record of increased responsibility.
- Sound technical knowledge of IFRS (or IFRS for SMEs), South African tax legislation and the Companies Act.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling.
- Working knowledge of property, mining and/or farming accounting principles.
- Experience leading or supervising a small team.
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
- Organised, deadline-driven and able to manage multiple entities concurrently.
- Strong communicator, comfortable engaging with senior management and operational teams.
- Hands-on and commercially minded - willing to dig into the detail rather than rely solely on the team below.
- Discreet and trustworthy when handling sensitive financial information.
