National Bioproducts Institute NPC has a vacancy for the role of People Advisor. The successful incumbent will be responsible for:
To provide operational and advisory support for day to day People Management operational activities and queries to line managers and employees. The role supports the implementation of HR initiatives, ensures consistent and efficient application of policies and procedures in performing operation or transactional people processes and assisting the People Business Partner with related activities.

Specific SHE Requirements
- Pre-employment, routine and exit medicals are compulsory due to the nature of the business
- Attendance to SHE related training is mandatory
- Adherence to SHE Instructions
- Compliance to SHE Site Rules is compulsory
- NBI uses hazardous and biologically active chemicals. The successful candidate will be required to use proper PPE and will go through medical examinations as per OSH Act requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a Human Resources related field
- Postgraduate qualification advantageous but not essential
- 3-5 years' experience generalist HR role including:
- Administration of HR processes
- HR Information Systems
- Industrial relations, preferably within a unionised environment
- Supporting line managers in a business partnering capacity
- Delivery within a cross functional HR team/department
HR Operations and Service Delivery
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR queries
- Provide accurate information on policies and procedures
- Coordinate with within the division as well as other departments to resolve queries
- Assist employees with routine HR related queries and requests
- Track and report on common enquiry themes
- Maintain confidentiality
- Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the People Business Partner
- Provide coaching and guidance to line managers on people management practices
- Support managers with basic performance management processes and documentation
- Coordinate and manage routine HR processes including probationary reviews, contract renewals, and internal movements
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity
- Support workforce planning activities through data collection and analysis
- Coordinate with Centres of Excellence on service delivery requirements
- Manage HR project administration and communication
- Ensure timely completion of HR administrative tasks and deadlines
- Identification of opportunities to improve service delivery
Policy and Process Guidance and Support
- Provide accurate interpretation and guidance on HR policies and procedures
- Ensure consistent application of policies across the organisation
- Support line managers in understanding and implementing HR policies
- Monitor policy compliance and identify areas requiring clarification or improvement
- Assist with policy updates and communication to the workforce
- Maintain current knowledge of labour legislation and company policies
- Support policy training and awareness sessions
- Create and maintain documentation, forms, and templates
- Support policy compliance monitoring
- Contribute to the development and updating of the employee handbook
Employee Relations
- Perform an initial assessment and provide guidance on employee relations matters, e.g. misconduct and grievances
- Handle routine disciplinary and grievance cases following established procedures
- Support line managers with day-to-day employee relations queries and concerns
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation in accordance with legal requirements
- Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the People Business Partner
- Conduct preliminary investigations into workplace complaints and incidents
- Coordinate routine communications with union representatives and shop stewards
- Maintain accurate records of union meetings, agreements, and correspondence
