Key Responsibilities

  • Lead overall operations across South Africa and Namibia, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning.
  • Oversee and drive new business development projects, identifying growth opportunities and implementing strategies to expand the company’s footprint.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor strategic plans aligned with company objectives and long-term vision.
  • Represent the company in high-level engagements with principals, industry associations, port authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor internal and external developments affecting the business and respond proactively to challenges and opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Heads of Departments and senior staff to enhance operational efficiency, performance, and service delivery.
  • Manage, mentor, and evaluate the performance of staff within the team to ensure goal achievement and professional growth.
  • Provide regular, high-level reporting to the Managing Director on operational performance, business developments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Travel as required to support business operations, meetings, and project oversight.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Over 10 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably within shipping or maritime operations.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping agency operations, port procedures, and maritime regulations.
  • Relevant shipping qualification, business management degree, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business management software tools.

  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management, financial monitoring, and resource allocation.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, including goal setting, motivation, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Effective conflict resolution, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of handling high‑pressure situations and tight deadlines.
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends, managerial strategies, and business operations in the shipping sector.
  • Willingness to travel extensively for operational and strategic business purposes.
