Burger Cook

POSITION INFO

A Burger Cook (also known as a Burger Maker, Burger Builder, or Line Cook) will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and assembling burgers, sandwiches, and related menu items in a fast‑paced restaurant or food service environment. They will ensure that all food items meet company standards for quality, consistency, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation & Assembly:
    Grilling, frying, and cooking meat or plant‑based patties, toasting buns, and dressing burgers with toppings (lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese) according to recipes.
  • Operating Equipment:
    Safely using grills, fryers, flattops, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Quality Control & Safety:
    Ensuring proper cooking temperatures, adhering to food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP), and keeping the workstation clean and organized.
  • Speed & Efficiency:
    Preparing orders accurately and quickly, especially during busy peak hours.
  • Stock Management:
    Resting, organizing, and properly storing ingredients.
  • Collaboration:

    Working as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations and, in some cases, assisting with customer service.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Previous experience in a kitchen or fast‑food role is preferred but not always required; many roles offer training for enthusiastic, fast‑learning individuals.
  • Skills:

    Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, good time management, and basic math skills for portioning.
  • Physical Demands:
    Ability to stand for long periods, walk, reach, and lift items.
  • Certifications:

    Food handler's certificate may be required.
Typical Working Environment
  • Fast‑paced restaurants, food trucks, or quick‑service (QSR) environments.
  • Exposure to high temperatures (grills/fryers) and, occasionally, cold storage areas.
  • Requires flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
