Short-Term Insurance Adviser (SIA) Role Purpose
Short-Term Insurance Advisers are committed, driven, and results-oriented professionals who can work independently as well as in a team environment. They are responsible for writing business (personal and commercial lines) in accordance with targets laid down by our client.
Responsibilities and Work Outputs- Source sufficient lead-generating opportunities to ensure a healthy, income-generating pipeline.
- Achieve a minimum requirement of 4 written policies per month.
- Maintain and update the Lead Generation Matrix on a weekly basis.
- Conduct comprehensive needs analyses with all prospective clients to fulfill advisory responsibilities.
- Perform in line with business expectations on agreed key performance areas.
- Stay informed on product comparisons with competitor offerings.
- Be proficient in our client’s products and remain up to date on product changes and enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with all activities in accordance with insurance regulations, professional guidelines, and ethics.
- Maintain and develop appropriate skills and knowledge to provide specialist, professional advice in all relevant business areas.
- Adhere to required dress code and professional appearance standards.
- Meet the Fit and Proper requirements as prescribed by the FAIS codes of conduct.

- Matric / Grade 12
- FAIS Credits (minimum 30 credits in short-term insurance if date of first appointment is before 2010); or if date of first appointment is on or after 01/01/2010, a fully recognised qualification as per the FSCA qualification list
- FAIS Regulatory Examination for Representatives (RE5)
- 12 CPD points if registered for 1 line of business, 18 CPD points if registered for both commercial and personal lines
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in selling short-term insurance (commercial and personal lines) either as a broker agent or tied agent
- All required regulatory exams and accreditation completed
- Computer literacy, including Calendar management, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word
- Active social media presence and ability to use social media as a networking tool
- Reliable transport (own vehicle) and a valid driver’s license
Salary depending on experience.
