Hire Sales is recruiting experienced and high-potential Senior Sales Representative for a fast-growing technology business supporting independent merchants across South Africa.
About the RoleYou will own your territory and be responsible for building a pipeline of new merchant opportunities. This is a consultative sales role where success comes from understanding the customer’s business, identifying pain points, and positioning the right solution.
You will be speaking to business owners, operators, managers and decision-makers across industries such as hospitality, retail, beauty, food services and other merchant-led environments.
What You’ll Do- Prospect and build your own pipeline through outbound activity, referrals, networking and field visits.
- Identify and engage new merchant opportunities in your region.
- Run discovery conversations to understand operational and payment-related challenges.
- Present practical solutions that help businesses operate faster, simpler and smarter.
- Build trusted relationships with business owners and decision-makers.
- Manage the full sales cycle from first conversation to close.
- Work closely with internal support, enablement and onboarding teams.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline updates and forecasts.
- Deliver against monthly revenue, activation and growth targets.
- Share market insights and competitor feedback with the wider team.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience in or around point-of-sale, payments, hospitality, retail, merchant services or B2B sales.
You do not need a long corporate sales CV. What matters is that you understand how customer-facing businesses operate and that you can confidently sell, influence and build relationships.
You’ll Be a Strong Fit If You Have- Experience in field sales, new business development, merchant sales, POS, payments, hospitality, retail, beauty, FMCG, telecoms, insurance, financial services or similar.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence speaking to business owners and decision-makers.
- A hunter mindset with the ability to generate your own leads.
- High emotional intelligence and curiosity.
- The ability to listen first, understand the problem, and then present the right solution.
- Good CRM discipline and professional follow-through.
- A target-driven mindset and comfort working in the field.
We are looking for people who are energetic, commercially minded, coachable and self-driven. You should be comfortable being on the road, approaching new businesses, managing your own time and building a strong territory.
This is not a desk-only sales role. You will be in the market, meeting merchants, building trust and closing new business.
