The Trainee Business Consultant opportunity at Old Mutual Broker Distribution is designed for high-potential individuals aspiring to build a long-term career supporting Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs). Starting on 1 March 2026, this independent contractor engagement offers structured development, professional exposure, and meaningful industry experience with one of South Africa's most trusted financial services brands. The programme begins with a four-week offsite learning immersion, followed by six to twelve months of field exposure across selected branches, where incumbents gain practical experience alongside seasoned Business Consultants.
Successful candidates may later be allocated a panel of IFAs to support through relationship-building, service excellence, technical enablement, and market growth facilitation.
- Participate in a four-week offsite foundational development programme covering financial services knowledge, adviser engagement, practice-management skills, and Old Mutual product insights
- Rotate across selected branches for six to twelve months to gain practical experience in adviser servicing, sales enablement, and practice engagement
- Support seasoned Business Consultants in delivering service excellence and technical enablement to IFAs
- Build strong relationships with advisers and provide practice support to enhance client engagement
- Facilitate market insights and growth opportunities for adviser practices
- Transition to managing a panel of 15-30 IFAs after successful completion of the programme, focusing on relationship management, service delivery, and business growth
- A recognised three-year degree or diploma in any field
- Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport
- Demonstrable work experience in any industry, with financial services experience advantageous
- Availability to travel and attend the four-week offsite programme
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- High learning agility, resilience, and service orientation
- Education requirement of NQF Level 7 - Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent
