Our Client, a leader in the healthcare industry is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join their team based in Durban
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12.
- Refrigeration Certificate.
- Driver’s License.
- Passed trade test Refrigeration.
- Registered Refrigeration Practitioner.
- Diploma in Refrigeration will be advantageous.
- 5 years’ post qualification experience in refrigeration and air-condition
- Understanding, knowledge and application of the relevant SANS legislation regarding HVAC&R industry.
- Knowledge of SHEQ regulations and legislation in the work area
MAIN JOB FUNCTION
- Assist with Refrigeration projects.
- Install refrigeration equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Commission functioning of equipment prior to hand over to sites.
- Extensive travelling undertaken to the various Zones/ Branches.
- Extensive travel to zone sites and/or branches to perform refrigeration maintenance, calibration and validation.
- Test and trace equipment for faults.
- Dismantle faulty equipment.
- Repair or replace necessary parts.
- Reassemble equipment.
- Modify and retrofit equipment where necessary, i.e. parts are obsolete.
- Test and commission repaired equipment.
- Extensive travelling undertaken to the various Zones/ Branches to effect repairs as required.
- Guided by SAP Plant Maintenance schedules and performs routine checks on refrigeration installations and equipment.
- Compiles relevant reports and submits to the responsible personnel and maintains copies in the Maintenance file.
- Respond to maintenance work requests (job cards) from divisions and supervisor.
- Service and/or maintain refrigeration installations.
- Repair and/or replace faulty compressor units in refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners.
- Calibrate refrigerators and freezers according to laid down Sop’s (17025) and calibration and validation schedule.
- Perform standby and callout duties on a roster basis.
- Ensure that tools and equipment are signed in and out of stock manage the lifespan of tools and equipment through ongoing routine maintenance.
- Selects and use the correct and appropriate equipment for the various task types to minimise downtime and product loses.
- Ensure equipment is stored and maintained as required to guarantee its operational integrity and calibration status as per required legislation.
- Ensure that tools and equipment are signed in and out of stock manage the lifespan of tools and equipment through ongoing routine maintenance.

- Order equipment and materials from suppliers according to job cards or workshop requisitions through supervisor.
- Perform other reasonable duties if and when required from superior
- Processes SAP Plant Maintenance requests into work orders, execute work, complete and close off the work orders on SAP.
- Complete and provide the respective Quality and SANAS required documentation for all maintained equipment for record keeping
- Complete and close off all SAP work orders on SAP timeously.
