Coffee Technician

Our client is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Coffee Technician to join their team in Durban, Kwa Zulu-Natal. The ideal candidate will have Grade 12, a valid driver’s license, technical experience in refrigeration, electrical, or mechanical fields, and a proven track record in the coffee industry.

Experience with beverage equipment, particularly vending, traditional, and fully automatic machines, will be advantageous. Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, excellent time-management and administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure are essential for this role.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric.
• N6 Electrical or Mechanical Diploma will be advantageous.
• Proven track record and experience in the coffee industry.
• Technical experience in refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, or related fields.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Customer service experience.
• Experience with beverage equipment, including vending, traditional, and fully automatic machines will be preferred.
• Solid understanding of SHEQ practices.
• Strong time-management and administrative skills.
• Good knowledge of the operational geographical area.
• Excellent knowledge of dispensing equipment.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Deadline-oriented.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.

DUTIES:

Technical Repairs & Maintenance:

• Conduct fault-finding and repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and software-related equipment.
• Calibrate, program, and test equipment to ensure optimal coffee quality and performance.
• Install equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
• Conduct sanitation of draught equipment at outlets within a designated area.
• Perform ongoing maintenance and general upkeep of draught equipment to maintain stringent quality standards and minimize downtime and callouts.
• Attend to standby callouts within required SLA time frames.
• Escalate technical issues timeously and follow up where required.

Customer Service & Communication:

• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and managers on-site.
• Maintain a professional approach and uphold high standards of customer service.
• Deliver quality workmanship while maintaining cost awareness.

Administration & Stock Management:

• Accurately complete job cards, tool checks, and stock records.
• Submit job cards daily via the designated job management system.
• Manage vehicle stock to minimize variances and ensure sufficient stock is available to deliver quality service.
• Submit stock orders timeously.
• Ensure all administrative documentation is completed when stock is returned and/or issued to team members.
• Update outlet record boards in the prescribed manner.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure all required documentation is completed.

Deliveries & Equipment:

• Deliver glassware to designated outlets.
• Ensure the responsible management and control of tools and spare parts.
• Conduct weekly vehicle inspections and submit the completed inspection documentation to the Operations Administrator.

Safety & Professional Standards:

• Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism at all times.
• Uphold company values, policies, and ethical standards.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

HOURS:

• Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
