Job Purpose
To fulfill duties of the Plant and Engineering functions of the site maintenance team. Carrying out repairs and maintenance to the electrical and mechanical assets as well as plant settings and synchronization at the Mill
Key Responsibilities
The core functions define the key areas of responsibility for this role, reflecting the accountabilities and expected outputs outlined in the competency-based profile. These are the primary activities through which the role delivers value to the business.
· Monitor and adjust when necessary, plant set points to ensure effective and efficient running of plants.
· Inspection of all electrical and mechanical equipment on Mill site.
· Monitor and inspect plant for potential and existing defects.
· Carrying out of scheduled preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
· Fault finding and repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment.
· Installation and project work as required.
· Carrying out of scheduled preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.

· Perform standby on a rotational basis.
· Work overtime as a result of breakdowns and planned maintenance when required.
· Check report books daily and liaise with Maintenance Manager on action to be taken on reported defects.
· Report any defects noticed while performing normal functions.
· Perform breakdown functions on electrical and mechanical equipment at the Mill.
Experience and Qualifications
To perform effectively in this role, the following minimum qualifications and work experience are required:
· Matric
· Appropriate engineering qualifications (trade test + N3 and N6)
· Relevant Trade Test qualification essential.
· Minimum 5
-year experience within a FMCG/Mill and environment post qualification
· Hands on knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
· Experience with scales, speed drives, pneumatic, electrical, instrumentation and hydraulics
· Must be able to read and update electrical drawings
· Experience with electrical power distribution (medium and low voltage)
· Knowledge of safety checks on mechanical equipment in accordance with OHSA
Skills and Competencies
· Planning and organising skills
· Ability to function in a team
· Computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office
· Ability to work under pressure
· Ability to read drawings
· Assist with other jobs that may reasonably be required within the maintenance department
· Ability to work outside electrical/mechanical boundary
· Good communication skills (verbal and written)
Working Conditions
· Ability to work outside normal working hours (shift work on a rotational basis)
· Required to work overtime as a result of breakdowns and planned maintenance when required
