Field Service Technician - Telecom

About the Role

Our client seeks a motivated and technically adept Field Service Technician to provide on-site support and maintenance for telecommunications equipment across the Durban region. In this role, you will be the face of our client's service commitment, responsible for the installation, repair, and upkeep of essential telecom infrastructure at customer locations. Your expertise will ensure that clients receive reliable and efficient service, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and operational continuity.

• Install, configure, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment and systems at customer sites.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to network connectivity, hardware malfunctions, and software problems.
• Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on telecommunication infrastructure as scheduled.
• Provide technical assistance and training to customers on equipment usage and basic troubleshooting.
• Document all service calls, including issues identified, actions taken, and resolution status.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while performing duties in the field.

• Relevant technical qualification or certification in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar technical support role within the telecom industry.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications principles, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and wireless technologies.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for network analysis and repair.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record for frequent travel within the Durban area.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
