About the Role

Our client seeks a dynamic and experienced Lead Mechanical Fitter to oversee critical maintenance and installation operations in Durban. This pivotal role involves leading a team of fitters, ensuring the precise assembly, installation, and repair of complex mechanical equipment and machinery. • Lead and supervise a team of mechanical fitters in the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications for accurate assembly and fitting.
• Perform precision fitting, alignment, and calibration of mechanical components and systems.
• Conduct regular inspections and diagnostic assessments to identify potential mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with procurement for necessary supplies.

• Extensive experience as a Mechanical Fitter, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
• Proven ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and fitting tools.
• Strong understanding of various industrial machinery, pumps, gearboxes, and conveyor systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4 or equivalent).
