MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

• Conduct daily routine maintenance inspections and equipment walkabouts, identifying and reporting on the condition of mechanical equipment.
• Perform effective repairs and maintenance on mechanical equipment, including conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, valves, piping and tanks.
• Overhaul and maintain spare equipment to the required original standards and specifications.
• Ensure scheduled maintenance activities and inspections are completed within the required timelines and in accordance with approved work orders.
• Ensure accurate and effective compliance with SAP maintenance processes, including the updating and closing of relevant work orders.
• Perform standby duties and respond to equipment breakdowns within acceptable response times.
• Work unplanned overtime when required to support operational requirements and plant reliability.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed to a high standard, with a strong focus on quality workmanship.
• Identify potential equipment failures and proactively address maintenance requirements to minimise downtime and improve plant reliability.

• Matric Certificate and Recognised Mechanical Trade Test.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with in the sugar industry will be an added advantage.
• Experience in the following areas will be advantageous:
• Centrifugal and positive displacement (PD) pumps.
• Screw and belt conveyors.
• Centrifugal machines.
• Steam and power generation equipment.
• Pressure vessels.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
