About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Industrial Equipment Mechanic to join their essential maintenance team in Durban . This position is critical for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of heavy machinery and production lines within industrial facilities. You will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of mechanical systems, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

This is a hands-on role for a dedicated professional who is adept at working with complex machinery and committed to upholding high standards of operational reliability and safety in a demanding environment.

• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery, including hydraulic systems, conveyor belts, and power transmission components.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and malfunctions, performing necessary repairs using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Dismantle, clean, repair, and reassemble faulty equipment and its component parts.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals , blueprints, and technical specifications to guide repair work.
• Operate a variety of tools and machinery, such as hoists, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance and repair activities performed on equipment in the Durban facility.

• Significant experience as an Industrial Mechanic or in a similar heavy machinery maintenance role.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and gearboxes.
• Proficiency with mechanic's tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to understand and work from complex schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to work in various industrial settings.
• Relevant certification or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is required.
