Field Service Technician - Heavy Machinery

Our client, a leading provider of industrial machinery and equipment, is seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician to serve the Durban, Kwa Zulu-Natal region. This role is essential for ensuring our clients' heavy machinery operates at peak performance through expert on-site maintenance, diagnostics, and repair. You will be the face of our company for many customers, providing exceptional technical support and building lasting relationships.

This is a dynamic role involving travel to various client sites within Durban and surrounding areas, with opportunities for occasional remote support and training. • Perform on-site installations, preventative maintenance, and repairs on heavy industrial machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Effectively communicate technical issues and solutions to clients, ensuring clear understanding and satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate service reports, parts inventories, and time logs using company software.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company guidelines while on client premises.
• Provide technical training and guidance to customer personnel on equipment operation and basic maintenance.
• Manage service vehicle inventory and maintenance.
• Collaborate with the technical support team to resolve challenging equipment problems.
• Stay updated on product knowledge and technical advancements through ongoing training.
• Ensure efficient use of time and resources to meet service level agreements.

• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role, with a focus on heavy machinery (e.g., construction, agricultural, mining equipment).
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the Kwa Zulu-Natal region and occasionally further afield.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and evenings.
• Relevant trade qualification or technical certification is highly advantageous.
